Typical procedure for watch and clock overhaul:

 

     1. Disassemble movement in its entirety
     2. Inspect all parts for rust, wear, and defects
     3. Clean parts in ultra-sonic cleaner
     4. Replace defective parts with same caliber as original
     5. Fashion obsolete parts by hand, if needed
     6. Hand-remove rust and polish pivots
     7. Reassemble and meticulously regulate time keeping
